Skill 01

Skill: Basic Jyuuken, gentle fist fighting style. (special)

Description: So this is the Hyuuga's style of hand-to-hand combat. It's a martial arts style that's considered the strongest in Konoha. Instead of damaging an opponent's body the traditional hitty, smashy, breaky way, Jyuuken pairs with Byakugan's abilities to allow the user to do damage to his opponent's internal systems— the chakra circulatory system, and the vital organs. It emphasizes precision, and uses a lot of circular motions generally associated with using other fighters' momentum against them, which also shows specifically in Neji's defense. In its complete form, he blends offensive and defensive combat smoothly and pretty flawlessly.

Considerations: Since Neji doesn't have Byakugan back yet, the most devastating of Jyuuken's potential isn't on the table at the moment. He can't see his opponent's chakra, can't attack it, etc. For the time being, Neji will be dealing with a very, very incomplete version of his fighting style. He is capable of using his fighting style to deliver a traditional punch, but it's not really made for that kind of fighting, and that's never how Neji has used it. Neji will have to adapt his fighting style considerably for the time being. Also, strength isn't really his strong stat, so while with practice he will be able to come up with something reasonably effective, it will be limited to fairly real world martial artist levels until he gets back Byakugan, and his speed/agility boosts.

What's more, his awesome defense relies on his eyes as well, so he can read his opponent's moves. Though, I would say that as a judgment call, defense is more intact. With practice, that should be entirely competent.

Once he does get Byakugan back, then other considerations come into play. Byakugan and Jyuuken both drain a great deal of chakra, and stamina also isn't Neji's strength. Neji's style is all about speed and precision, and using his chakra surgically to deliver crippling attacks, as well as advanced perception. In Aather, Byakugan's power will be reduced and the chakra toll of using Byakugan and Jyuuken will be greater. As a result, Neji will only be able to fight to his full (capped) potential for a relatively short period of time. Overdoing it leads to exhaustion, headaches, and if he really pushes it, temporary vision loss. (Thank you canon for giving me that. It was like Christmas.)
